Peter Marschall
Peter Marschall came to SEI in 2010 and has over 14 years of experience in operations management.
He began his professional career at Nevada Bell (now AT&T) in 1996, and continued on to help build SourceNet Corporation, an Internet start-up company. There, he was responsible for setting strategic direction and management policies of all operations, which included human resources, hiring, training, coaching, evaluation of customer service, and sales.
He oversaw the operations staff, developed annual budgets of over $1 million per year, managed the fiscal department, including A/R and A/P, and created sales leads as well as business and marketing plans.
In 2000, Peter moved to Advanced TelCom Group (now Integra Telecom), and became responsible for the Internet engineering team and infrastructure in California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. He managed risk assessment and planning, capacity analysis, cost management, network design and disaster recovery. Among other accomplishments, he negotiated contracts with national carriers and Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) to reduce costs by over $160,000 in 12 months.
Peter decided to leave the telecom industry to pursue his love for words, and became a writer and freelance journalist in 2005. He published work in the Reno Gazette-Journal, Reno/Sparks Business Relocation Guide, Northern Nevada New Homes Preview, Northern Nevada Farm Guide, and in what was his proudest achievement, contributed to the Nevada Online Encyclopedia.
In 2008, he returned briefly to operations, and took on a management role at Raven Technology Group, a start-up manufacturing firm. There he compiled the company’s employee manual, implemented sales management software to the company database, purchased parts, managed inventory and shipping, and contributed to all aspects of manufacturing and assembling process of the company’s core product.
Peter graduated for the University of Nevada, Reno in December 1997 with a B.A. in journalism, and a minor in business administration. He has completed training on “Elements of Leadership Effectiveness” from General Electric Power Systems.
