Board Assessment and Design
We facilitate objective, insightful assessments of governing boards to identify strengths and potential areas for enhancement. We also assist clients with designing an optimal governance structure for their unique circumstances. The design of the governance function can include board size and composition, officer and committee structures, bylaws, decision-making protocols, internal communications, clarity about the respective roles and expectations of the board as compared to staff, and other elements.
We enhance the effectiveness of boards by developing and implementing recruitment campaigns to attract outstanding new board members, providing methods for orienting and engaging new board members, training board members on best practices in governance, implementing communication systems that support the flow of critical information between the board and staff, and providing other assistance to enable the board to be a dynamic contributor to the success of the organization.
