Planning

With our experience in completing over 130 successful planning projects, we tailor planning processes to the exact situation of each client so that investments in planning lead to real results.  We offer expert guidance with all of the following types of planning and can flexibly combine elements from different types of planning into one powerful and integrated process.

Strategic Planning

Strategic planning entails developing and communicating effective long-range plans that ensure the organization has a clear vision for the future and realistic strategies for achieving and sustaining success in a turbulent world.  We help groups gain an understanding of their strategic situation and then create clarity and focus regarding their mission and vision, long-term goals, strategies for achieving those goals and the means to translate strategy into action.

Community Assessment

We use multiple quantitative and qualitative research methods including surveys, focus groups, key informant interviews, community forums, asset mapping, demographic analysis and analysis of numerous other data sources in order to gain a thorough understanding of community assets and needs related to our clients’ services, and then present that information in reports and other ways that support planning and action.

Operational/Business Planning

Operational or business planning involves planning the future evolution of the overall organization design, governance, marketing tactics, human resources, facilities, finances, use of technology and other attributes in order to have the operational capacity to successfully pursue short- and long-term goals.  Assessment of a multitude of options to increase and diversify revenues, leading to adopt of revenue generation strategies and a long-range financial forecast, is typically an integral part of business planning.

Implementation Planning

An implementation plan defines exactly who needs to do what, by when, in order to carry out the activities described in a strategic plan and/or business plan.  The plan usually covers a one year timeframe and is the tool used to manage and track the day-to-day work necessary to achieve strategic goals.  We typically develop an implementation plan as part of all strategic planning and business planning projects, but can also work with organizations to develop implementation plans for their existing strategic plans.

Program Planning and Implementation

We assist organizations with planning and implementing new programs to serve their constituents and with planning to evolve and strengthen existing programs.

Fund Distribution

For grantmaking entities such as foundations and public commissions, we guide planning and development of grant programs in a variety of ways including defining objectives and priorities for fund distribution and optimizing fund allocation processes to best meet those objectives.
