Sustainability
For health and human services, sustainability is the ability to create lasting improvements in health and well-being for an extended period of time despite ongoing changes in funding sources, program models, demographic characteristics of populations served, government regulations and other factors. We have extensive and unique experience in helping nonprofit and public entities improve the long-term sustainability of their programs and services and the results achieved by those programs for their constituents.
Our services range from training for clients on the essential elements of sustainability to facilitation of a comprehensive, step-by-step process for sustainability planning and implementation. Our model for sustainability planning is based on the lessons learned about sustainability from our own work throughout the country together with research conducted by many foundations and research centers. All available research agrees with one central conclusion: sustainability requires much more than just money. Vision, leadership, relationships, community engagement, public policy and other factors are just as important. Our approach addresses all of the core elements of sustainability in a complete and integrated manner.
Once a solid sustainability plan has been developed, we can also assist with implementing new revenue generation approaches and any other areas where additional support would be beneficial. Please see our Capacity Building services page for more information.
